The buzz only got louder.Darnold sparkled in his NFL debut and made a strong initial case to win the Jets’ starting quarterback job as he helped lead New York to a 17-0 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night.”I was a little nervous going out there Youth Da’Norris Searcy Jersey
,” Darnold said, “but I think more just excited to finally be able to play in an NFL game, even though it is preseason.”Darnold, the No. 3 overall draft pick in April, was the Jets’ third quarterback of the game, following Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater. The former USC star received a standing ovation as he jogged onto the field at MetLife Stadium with 8:41 to go in the first half.”Yeah, it was pretty cool just to get that response from the crowd,” Darnold said with a big grin. “Even when I was on the sideline, I had fans later in the fourth quarter yell, ‘Great game, Sam!'”Darnold’s first series ended in a punt and his non-throwing left hand was checked out by trainers on the sideline after it was stepped on. He would’ve had a seventh consecutive completion, but his throw into the end zone was dropped by Johnson. Darnold went right back to Johnson on his next pass and the receiver caught a 4-yard TD toss — but was called for offensive pass interference. On third-and-14, Darnold again threw to Johnson while rolling to his right and zipping in a pass for the score.”My first scoring drive of my whole career was a two-minute drive going down the field,” Darnold said. “It was awesome. To get the penalty and be pushed back and for our whole offense to respond to adversity like that, it was awesome to see.”Darnold, who finished 13 of 18 for 96 yards, sat out the first three days of training camp before his representatives and the Jets agreed on a fully guaranteed four-year, $30.25 million deal that included a $20 million signing bonus. He quickly made up for the missed time, and is being given every opportunity to win the starting job.”I’m not going to jump to any conclusions after one game,” coach Todd Bowles said.McCown is the incumbent and started the game, but played just one series. He didn’t return.Bridgewater, who suffered a serious knee injury in practice while with Minnesota nearly two years ago, converted a third-and-11 with an 8-yard pass to Robby Anderson — while also taking a hard hit bouncing back up. On fourth-and-3 from the Falcons 40, Bridgewater connected with Jermaine Kearse for a 6-yard gain and a first down to keep the drive alive.Playing with the backup offensive line on his second series, Bridgewater led New York on another scoring drive capped by Taylor Bertolet’s 45-yard field goal.”Overall, it was a great day,” said Bridgewater, who finished 7 of 8 for 85 yards. “It was good to be back out there with the guys Stitched Da’Norris Searcy Jersey

That part of our game we certainly need to clean up.”NATIONAL ANTHEMPlayers from both teams stood during the anthem, with no demonstrations. You’re probably familiar with the old saying, “If you have two quarterbacks, you actually have none.”The 2018 Carolina Panthers are apparently trying to create a new saying when it comes to the offensive line: “When you have five left guards, cross your fingers and pray one of them can become a legitimate starter.”All-Pro left guard Andrew Norwell used to create gaping holes for his running backs to run through during his time in Charlotte. Norwell’s departure has now created a gaping hole on the offensive line that is yet to be filled. While it is still very early to be projecting depth charts for the upcoming season, several fairly credible websites have done just that. Here is the jumble of confusion that is the Panthers left guard situation: Projected Depth ChartsSourceLG1LG2SourceLG1LG2Five sites are predicting three different starters in Tyler Larsen Stitched Jarius Wright Jersey
, Amini Silatolu, and Jeremiah Sirles. Throw in Taylor Moton and Greg Van Roten as LG2 on some depth charts, and the Panthers have up to five players in the mix for the job. The natural question is to ask who should start, and why? Here is some basic information on each of the potential starters:LG Player DataPlayerCareer Starts2016 Off. He has been competent over the last two seasons filling in at center for the oft-injured Ryan Kalil. At this point “competent” is probably the best the Panthers can hope for at left guard, and Larsen can be just that. From a long-term perspective, Larsen may be Kalil’s replacement at center after Kalil retires at the end of this season and starting him this season could assist in that important transition. As for LG2 I’d love to see Taylor Moton and Jeremiah Sirles battle it out. Moton has only played 64 offensive snaps in two seasons after being drafted in the second round in 2016. It’s about time the Panthers gave Moton some reps to see if he can live up to the expectations of his lofty draft status. Sirles is new to the Panthers and seems perfectly capable of being a backup if things don’t work out with Moton. I’d put Silatolu and Van Roten clearly behind the other three players mentioned above. Frankly, Silatolu has struggled so much over the years that I was surprised Carolina signed him for the 2018 season. The prospect of him playing meaningful snaps in 2018 is both baffling and terrifying, especially if it comes at Moton’s expense again. Van Roten pretty much is what he is at this point in his career after bouncing around the NFL and CFL since 2012. So, CSR community, who do you think should start at left guard in 2018?
